Gerhard Frömel
Born 1941 in Grieskirchen (A), lives and works in Austria
Represented by the Galerie La Ligne since 2011
"My objects and installations are three-dimensional, made from single elements positioned on two or more planes. Depending on their position, viewers can glimpse optical shifts, separations or assemblages. They can also discover linear elements or a diversity of shapes, as well as an illusory space that can be apprehended in two or three dimensions.
The same experiment can be carried out when discovering a city or a landscape. Each step leads to an optical transformation: isolated buildings merge into one another or are reduced to a wall, distant buildings and interviews with the landscape seem to line up on the same plane. The mountains offer a new aspect... already a minimal step - physically and intellectually - our vision of the world can change enormously... THIS IS WHAT WILL COME... "
