Works by  Paul Ouwerkerk

From 2014 his fascination shifts to Platonic Solids, mathematical multifaces. He begins to construct these as physical paper models. With digital photography and image editing he creates a variety two dimensional print works on several materials. Constructed digital drawings and collages follow. Finally he finds a numerical formula that enables him to generate a perspective ‘field’ that serves as a playground for further investigations on paper, canvas and plywood.

Since 2019 Paul dedicates his time to ‘Dynamic Geometry’ painting and drawing. In a variety of size and scale he investigates the workings of rhythm, pattern, repetition, transformation, perspective and the representation of time in a still image.

His painting technique is based on layering patterns with translucent acrylic paint on canvas and plywood surfaces. The drawings consist of pastel, pencil and charcoal on paper. They create a different expression as his acrylic paintings and can be seen as a seperate, autonomous works.
